Colong Valery Nyiwung is a Cofounder and Executive Director of ActivSpaces – Cameroon’s leading technology innovation hub and incubator. He leads the team at ActivSpaces, develops IT solutions to solve tough challenges in Cameroon/Africa and helps coach junior developers and entrepreneurs at the hub.
Colong is a Senior Software Engineer, and Tech Entrepreneur with over 10 years’ experience in the field of ICT Entrepreneurship. He is one of the pioneers of the startup community in Buea and amongst the first people to use the term “Silicon Mountain” to describe the ICT revolution that was happening in Buea back in 2005. He is a cofounder of 3 technology startups – two of which have been incubated at ActivSpaces.
Colong has helped realized many software development projects for clients at home and abroad; occupying such roles as Lead Developer for the VC4Africa Web Platform - the leading match making platform for entrepreneurs and investors on the African continent, Software Developer for Mokolo TV - the largest movie database for African cinemas - by Goethe Institute.
In 2016, his agricultural venture AGRO-HUB was announced winner of the 2016 Nestle Creating Shared Value Prize for his team's work with farmers on a Cassava transformation and marketing project that aims to move over 2000 smallholder farmers out of poverty.
Colong holds a Bachelor degree in Physics with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Buea in Cameroon. He is also Sun Certified Java Program and an Inbound Certified Marketer.
